Diabetes specialist Kolkata hospital traveled through the city with a mobile screening unit | India News – Times of India
The mobile screening unit covered prominent locations such as railway stations, bus stands and busy intersections from Shyambazar to Gariahat. Through this effort, the hospital aimed to encourage early detection and raise awareness about the importance of regular monitoring.
A major highlight of the initiative was the Continuing Medical Education (CME) session, which brought together experts, medical professionals and community health leaders. Chaired by Prof. Dr. Sukumar Mukherjeechairman of the hospital, consisted of eminent speakers including Dr. Nilanjan Sengupta and Dr. Shaibal Chakraborty, Chief Medical Advisor. The CME offered an in-depth discussion diabetes managementrecent advances in treatment and preventive approaches.
Musrefa Hossain, CEO of GDHDI said, “With the increasing prevalence of diabetes, our aim was to make health checkups accessible and convenient. We wanted to engage the community in a meaningful way and bridge the gap between healthcare organizations and the public.”
Of all the people screened through the campaign, doctors found that about 27% fell under the diabetes category.
As a visual emblem of its commitment to World Diabetes Day, the main hospital building was illuminated with blue lights on the nights of November 13, 14 and 15. Diabetes specialist Kolkata Hospital traveled through the city with a mobile screening unit.
Moreover, on November 14, the hospital premises including reception, OPD areas and front office were decorated with blue and white balloons, posters and stands dedicated to World Diabetes Day. The hospital’s senior consultants shared impactful diabetes awareness messages through videos broadcast on the hospital’s internal TV network and shared across social media platforms. The team prepared an animated audiovisual presentation to educate the public on the importance of diabetes awareness, which was made available to all visitors on World Diabetes Day.
