UP government forms high-level committee to probe Jhansi medical college fire tragedy – Times of India

The inquiry committee will consist of the following officers: Chairman, Director General, Medical Education and Training, and the other members will be Director (Health), Medical Health Services, Additional Director, Electrical Services, Medical Health Services, and an officer who is nominated by the director general of the fire brigade.
The investigation will focus on the following key points: Primary cause of the fire, determining the main cause of the fire; Identification of negligence or omission, which determines whether negligence or error contributed to the incident; and Recommendations for Future Prevention, which propose measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
The committee has been directed to submit its report to the state government within seven days of the issuance of this order.
Principal Secretary (Health) Partha Sarathi Sharma urged all officials concerned to ensure strict adherence to the investigation timeline and extend full cooperation in a comprehensive investigation.
The investigation aims to determine responsibility and propose effective safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The fire, which engulfed the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), is believed to have been caused by a short circuit. While ten newborns died, sixteen are said to be in critical condition.
