NEW DELHI: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship has rescued seven Indian fishermen held by A Pakistan Maritime Security Service (PMSA) ship near the Maritime border between India and Pakistan.
The ICG rescued the fishermen on Sunday (Nov 17) despite the PMSA vessel’s attempt to withdraw.
The Indian ship intercepted the Pakistani ship Nusrat and chased it for about two hours before convincing them to release the fishermen.
“The Indian Coast Guard ship Agrim, deployed close to the maritime boundary line with Pakistan, was pursuing Pakistan Maritime safety Agency ship PMS Nusrat after a chase of about two hours and clearly told them that under no circumstances would the Pakistani ship be able to take away Indian fishermen from fishing boat Kaal Bhairav ​​from Indian waters,” defense officials told news agency ANI.
The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) vessel successfully rescued seven Indian fishermen apprehended by a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) vessel near the India-Pakistan border on November 24. Despite attempts by the PMSA ship to withdraw, ICG ship intercepted the PMSA vessel and persuaded them to relieve Indian fishermen,” the IGC statement said.
“The ICG vessel was able to safely retrieve the seven fishermen, all of whom were in a stable medical condition. Unfortunately, it was reported that the Indian fishing boat Kal Bhairav ​​was damaged and sunk during the incident,” the ICG said in a statement. This is reported by the ANI news agency.
The statement further read: “ICG Ship returned to Okha Port on November 18, where a joint research involving the ICG, state police, intelligence services and fisheries authorities, an investigation was launched into the circumstances leading to the collision and subsequent rescue operation.
