As election day approaches, here’s a look at what will be open and closed in Maharashtra:
No restrictions on public transport
Public transport will operate as usual to ensure voters can easily travel to their polling station. In Mumbai, the state capital, both Metro and BEST buses run until midnight, providing convenient travel options all day long.
Hospitals and emergency services remain open
Critical services such as hospitals, pharmacies and ambulances will be available as usual. Citizens can contact these emergency services during the day for health problems.
Educational institutions closed
All schools, colleges and other educational institutions in Maharashtra will remain closed so that both staff and students can cast their votes without any hindrance.
Government offices and private sector workers are on vacation
Government offices across the state are closed that day. In Mumbai, private sector workers have been given paid holidays to ensure they can participate in the election process.
Banks and stock exchanges are closed
All public and private sector banks will be closed. However, online banking and ATMs will continue to function as usual. Moreover, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain closed and trading will resume the next day.
