“The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will be formed in Maharashtra under the leadership of the Congress,” Patole said a day after the exit polls predicted a majority for the BJP-led Mahayuti.
Raut strongly denounced the allegation, saying, “I will not accept this and no one else will accept this. We will sit together and decide whether Nana Patole said this and whether Nana Patole has the command of Congress.”
Raut added that such a statement should have come from the Congress high command.
“The Congress high command has said that if you become prime minister, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Sonia Gandhi should announce it,” he said.
The two parties had also witnessed rifts due to differences over seat sharing ahead of the Maharashtra elections. After much negotiation, the three MVA partners reached a consensus but left the leadership decision unresolved.
