A GENIUS laundry trick ensures I never run out of space on the washing line again
As energy bills continue to rise, we’re all looking for ways to keep costs down.
But for a busy household, it can be nearly impossible to dry clothes outside with just one washing line.
However, a mother of three has revealed a trick she learned from a five-year-old that has changed her laundry habits forever.
“Guys, here’s a life hack for you, right?” she said in a video on her TikTok page.
“My friend told me that one day her mom was hanging out the laundry and she ran out of space. Her five-year-old niece said, ‘Why don’t you just pin it to the other shirt underneath?'”
She then showed a long-sleeved top that was attached to another top at the hem with two pins.

“I still do!” she grinned.
“So if you ever run out of room on your line, you can just attach it to the other line!”
“Great tip!!! Awesome!!!” she captioned the video.
People were quick to respond in the comments, with many convinced the hack was a total game changer.
“Kids are smart when we listen!” someone wrote.
“And now my life is complete! Thank you,” added another.
“GREAT idea!!.. I would never have thought of that myself but it seems so obvious,” said a third.
“Great hack,” said someone else.
“I’m going to do this and all my neighbors will think I’m a genius!” laughed another.
“Awesome!! How sad can I be when I get excited about a laundry trick?” said someone else.
As another admitted: “Oh my God, this is a game changer.
“I have 2 long lines and it’s still never enough!”
How do you get your laundry dry when it’s raining outside?
DEALING with the British weather isn’t ideal when it comes to drying clothes outside. But fear not, if it’s raining, there are a few tricks you can try to dry your washing indoors.
Curtain rods
If you hang your clothes on hangers to dry, you can then hang the clothes on a curtain rod. This is an effective trick, but it is important to make sure that you also have a window open, to promote ventilation and prevent mold.
Airbeds
There are a lot of drying racks on the market, but heated drying racks have become increasingly popular in recent months. Many people swear by using a heated drying rack to dry clothes quickly and evenly, without the energy bill of running up a tumble dryer.
Dehumidifiers
Although the main purpose of a dehumidifier is, as the name suggests, to reduce the humidity in the room, they also work great for drying clothes. Many of the small appliances even have a washing program. And again, using a dehumidifier is also not expensive, because they are very energy efficient.
Radiator cocoon
If you have the heating on, creating a cocoon with a fitted sheet and your radiator can be a game changer. Simply place one end of the fitted sheet over the radiator and position the other end so that it completely envelops the dryer. This will dry your clothes faster, by keeping the warm air in the cocoon instead of letting it all escape.
Turn it
Most wash cycles end with a spin cycle, but you can always give your laundry an extra spin before taking it out, to remove as much moisture as possible before hanging it up. It’s a trick that many people swear by when it comes to drying clothes indoors.
“Wow, how did we not think of this?!” wondered someone else.
“If there are prizes for hackers, this is the winner,” said another.
“Brilliant!”
While others took to the comments section to share their own laundry tips.
“Or hang all your outerwear on hangers and put a clothespin on the top of the hanger to secure it to the line,” one person wrote.
“Everything dries in the right shape, doesn’t need to be ironed and can go straight into the closet!”
“Hang everything on hangers, then you have more space… and they are ready to hang in the closet,” agreed another.
