A major firmware update is coming to your Philips Hue smart home setup

If you use Philips Hue security cameras to keep an eye on your home, we have good news: you can expect a big package of new features and bug fixes coming soon that will make it easier to keep an eye on what’s happening inside and outside your home.

One of the biggest changes is improved package detection if you have a Hue Secure subscription. This feature lets you set up a zone for detailed notifications that will tell you if a package has been left outside, so you can retrieve it before a porch pirate gets there first. Notifications should now be more accurate, giving you a better chance of grabbing your package before a thief does.

Person detection has also been improved, and you should receive fewer false positives from rain or trees swaying in the wind. You should also no longer receive notifications for events that fall outside the activity zones you’ve defined in the app.
