A new leaked Google Pixel function looks so useful that it can really convince me to switch from Samsung

- Google is leaking a new VIPS function for Pixel -Phones
- They are a special contact point that you can follow and take notes
- The function is not yet available and has no known release date
Google seems to give Google Pixel -Telefoon Users an important update with a new VIP option that makes it easier to make personal and telephone contact with your best friends and family
The update appeared unexpectedly for some Google Pixel owners during the weekend and contained references to a service called ‘Pixel VIPs’.

They are marked with an extra green heart symbol and ticks on their contact icon – or the use of the VIP widget – brings you to a page with information about them. You will be able to see when you have the last contact with them, where they are, how far that is, how things are with them, and how their time zone is, and finally notes that you have made about them. In the screenshots of the app we see that a user has left memories of their friend’s name, that they need a new yoga mat and important details from their lives.
It seems that the app also suggests possible activities that you could do together, with the option to refine those options.
The best new function of Google Pixel?
To be honest, many of these seem really useful and it is perhaps one of the best new telephone functions I have seen so far in 2025.
I am not the biggest fan of the people who follow – although it seems as if this function can be switched on for specific VIP contacts based on screenshots – but otherwise it sounds like a perfect tool.
I am terrible with names, so I will remember that my friend has a pet or brother or sister, but can struggle to remember what they are called, and I have certainly made mental notes about possible great gift ideas based on something they said and immediately forgot an hour later.
Even the suggestions of the AI activity sound handy.
It is easy to get into the routine to do the same pair of hangouts, so I would certainly appreciate suggestions for different things to try with activities that you and the VIP already like. Yes, other AI can already offer a similar service, but this tool is integrated into your contact page instead of a completely different app.
Unfortunately, it is not clear when this ‘VIPS’ function could be launched.
Although an update apparently has been rolled out, Google also seems to have had to have scrubbed the mention – which suggests that the update was a mistake.
What is more, it has not yet appeared in the Android 16 -Bèta, nor was it discussed on Google I/O 2025However, that does not mean that it is gone for years.
I hope it will soon be on its way to Android, and that Samsung Offers a function like this for Galaxy telephone users – because otherwise it can add another point to the growing list of reasons that I have to switch to a Google Pixel.
