“To my dearest friend, you made the world a better place. Nothing could brace me for this heartbreaking event. I will forever miss your presence and sense of humor.

“Rest in peace sweet boy.”

Another friend said the boy would keep the memories they shared with him forever.

“You will be forever missed,” they continued.

‘Fly high.’

A third friend wrote: ‘You were way too young to leave so quickly.’

“You will be forever missed by this community, by your friends, by your family.

‘Rest in peace.’

Greig, a professional chef and father, changed his profile picture on Facebook on Friday – just hours before the boy was allegedly murdered.

According to his social media profiles, Greig is originally from the NSW Central Coast but now lives in the Tahmoor area.

Photos posted online show him dressed in his chef’s attire, working in the kitchen and spending time with loved ones.

Police believe about a dozen young campers gathered Friday evening near the area where the boy’s body was found.

Acting Chief Inspector Tim Calman said the state crime officer was called to the site to assist as there were ‘a lot of moving parts’.

His family had been informed of his death, Supt Calman said, and were being supported by police.

“We have expressed our thoughts to the family,” he said. “They’re going to have a tough time this afternoon.”

Police are appealing for anyone with knowledge of the incident, dashcam or mobile footage to come forward, as well as anyone who may have been in the area since 6pm on Friday.
