About 1,000 small bridges to be built in rural Bihar | India News – Times of India

PATNA: Around 1,000 small bridges will be constructed in rural areas of Bihar where a number of such structures have collapsed in the recent past, an official said on Tuesday. The decision was taken in a Little cupboard meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nitish Kumar.
The Cabinet gave its approval for the launch of the ‘Mukhyamantri Gramin Setu Nirman Yojana‘ (MGSNY) under which the bridges will be constructed, said S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat).
“Under this plan, small bridges in rural areas will be constructed on priority. The Rural Works Department (RWD) will construct bridges up to 100 metres long and Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited will construct them,” Siddharth said.
The Cabinet also approved amendments to the Mukhya Mantri Gramin Sadak Unnayan Yojana with an aim to provide all-weather roads to all rural areas in the state. Roads in rural areas that require immediate repair will also be part of this plan, the ACS said.
The Cabinet has also approved a proposal for construction of three five-star hotels with shopping malls in Patna, on the premises of Ashok Patliputra Hotel, Sultan Palace and Bankipur Bus Stand under a public-private partnership (PPP), he said.
“Earlier, permission was given for the construction of only three five-star hotels. Now, they will be five-star hotels with shopping malls. Permission was also given to increase the number of rooms in these hotels,” he said.
Say said the Cabinet has approved the Bihar Tourism and Market Policy-2024, which aims at developing various tourism projects by facilitating the private sector.
