Actor Allu Arjun arrested in Sandhya Theater stampede case | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Actor Allu Arjun was arrested on Friday in connection with a stampede incident at the Sandhya Theater during the premiere of Pushpa-2 over a week ago. The incident claimed the life of Revathi, a 35-year-old woman, on December 4. Her son is still receiving treatment.
The police team, led by the Deputy Commissioner, arrived at his house to take him into custody while his family members were present. Authorities escorted him to their vehicle before taking him to the police station.
The incident took place on December 4, when Allu Arjun’s performance at the theater, accompanied by his security personnel, caused an uncontrolled flow of people trying to enter the venue, resulting in a stampede. Stampede took place due to alleged poor crowd management, which led to lathicharge.
“The theater management did not make any additional arrangements regarding security to manage the crowd nor was there a separate entry or exit for the acting team even though the theater management had information about their arrival,” the police had said.
Authorities had previously arrested three people, including a fellow partner of the theater, in connection with this incident.
The police had registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theater management under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Chikkadpally police station on the basis of the complaint filed by the deceased woman’s family .
Arjun had also filed a plea seeking quashing of the FIR and sought a stay of all further proceedings, including arrest.
