Speaking at the IAF Commanders’ Conference, Singh emphasized the need for the armed forces to focus on executing projects in a time-bound manner to address operational challenges as well as long-term strategic planning in line with national objectives and ambitions. The minister also called for more efficient use of resources by increasing ‘jointness’ and synergy between Army, Navy and IAF, ahead of the upcoming establishment of tri-Service theater assignments for a more cost-effective integrated warfighting machinery.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and his commanders briefed the minister on the operational capabilities of the IAF, which continues to be forward deployed with aircraft, helicopters, surface-to-air missile systems and radars along the 3,488 km Line of Actual Control with China.
Singh will also meet with his Chinese counterpart Admiral Dong Jun in Vientiane on November 20 and 22, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM-Plus).
