A strawberry is made of glass that cuts someone as if it is made of jelly, then the same happens with various other berries and the Pokémon Charzard. A woman baptizes a pair of rock -melted rock and takes a bite of the seemingly wonderful treat before spreading something on a waffle and takes a bite.
These are not cough syrup-induced hallucination; It is the newest trend in ASMR videos, made with Google’s Veo 3 And other AI film generators.
Maybe you have seen this and other bizarre videos on your tap -algorithm. I am not the biggest supporter of ASMR videos and their soft whisperers, rhythmic taps and other soporifice audio, but I understood the attraction. I am not so sure that the AI version is just as good. These are not your traditional Lo-Fi Lo-Fi ticking and brushing videos.
Google Veo is definitely the most popular choice of AI video generators for ASMR. No matter how good the model is in producing realistic videos (for a certain value of realism in this case), it still makes videos with a shine of artificiality, without the mistakes and inaccuracy that are the characteristic of ASMR made by people.
Friends of mine who are much larger fans of ASMR claim that it is not just the sounds and voices that seduce them. It is the intimacy and directness that they like. It was said that the ‘Tingle Triggers’ there are in the AI videos, but it’s just not the same.
AI ASMR
However, that is not a universal opinion. These videos pick up millions of views. The comments are full of excitement and confusion, where people are unable to explain why they like the videos, or who are surprised how they cannot stop looking at them.
Part of the attraction can be new. Everything that is new will have a fan base at least for a while, and Veo’s video quality is different from everything that most people have seen before. It mimics natural lighting, shadow and realistic camera movement. Perfect glass sculptures from Pokémon that can easily be cut with ease, because they are all AI-generated, are certainly a striking one.
As nice as it is, I wonder if someone is looking for a pure ASMR experience will choose an AI video. The sounds can scratch that auditory itching, but I wonder how many lists with favorite ASMR videos they will contain.
Not every AI trend needs to be logical. Some of them don’t. AI ASMR can have a niche place in the general ASMR ecosystem. Yet I do not think that the majority of people who fall asleep with sweet whispers prefer the sound of simulated glass that crack under an invisible knife.
