Airbnb has just received a makeover over, and it is more than just finding a place to stay

Airbnb has been a disruptor since it affected the scene in 2007. Now, during the annual Summer release event, the re -designing of his app to make navigating easier and ultimately leveling what you would expect from a stay in one of the many properties worldwide.
Although you get a little more room with an Airbnb, for example, you may lose some facilities, whether it is a gym, an attached restaurant or even some self -care. The reply from the technology company is called Airbnb Services, essentially a way to book a service such as a massage, a haircut or even a chef to get where you stay.
This is intended to fill in the missing gap of what you could get from a hotel, but it also gives you the visitor, a little more control, with the option to look through the available options and to choose the one that most fits your needs.
Airbnb experiences are also the aim of replacing the everyday with memorable, so that you can book activities from the local population in the cities where you are staying to get the most out of it. These seem especially fun, and during a launch event, Airbnb has certainly put forward the talent to increase this.
Then binding all this is a redesign app that looks a lot easier to navigate and behaves more like a helpful companion. If you have booked a stay, as well as services or experiences, this can bundle them as a travel schedule for you, with important memories.
1. Book a hairstyle, massage or a well -groomed meal with services
Services seem to be the most approachable addition, and probably one of the most requested. Instead of finding out whether the host approves a third party, Airbnb treats the investigation and offers 10 categories of services in the launch. They include chefs, photographers, massages, spa treatments, personal training, hair treatments, makeup, nails, prepared meals and catering.
It is first launched in 260 cities around the world and lives directly in the Airbnb app -there is a complete ‘services’ category at the top, and after you have booked or considered a location, you can see recommended services.
Airbnb checks the service providers and promises that each has about 10 years of experience in the respective industry. In addition, every instructor or provider must go through a verification process and state the applicable training or certifications.
Services start at $ 50 in the US (we are waiting for exact starting prices that are confirmed in the UK and Australia, but that converts to around £ 40 / AU $ 80) and now rolled out. Airbnb also encourages providers to register to become hosts for services on the platform.
The real kicker here, and one that may be taskrabbit, is that you do not have to book Airbnb house for a stay to use services or experiences (more about this about this).
If you need a photographer for a birthday party or a shower, you can set up Airbnb on your iPhone or Android telephone, view reviews and hire a professional. The same for a Hibachi chef for a girls’ evening – in an Airbnb or in your own home – or for a caterer who specializes in soup bulbs.
2. Memorable moments called experiences
In addition to services in the Airbnb app, there will be ‘experiences’ with a hot-air balloon icon. And similar to the houses of ‘icons’ where Airbnb people can enter to win a stay – such as the house of Upwards or the control room of Inside out -experiences are a little more pie-in-the-sky, in the best possible way.
These are unique activities run by people from which you are staying, who strive to really immerse yourself in the location. It can be a cooking class or a dining experience, but instead of just a meal in a restaurant, it is interactive and possibly led by a Michelin-Star Chef, or you can freshen up your wardrobe with a famous stylist.
Similarly, instead of just visiting a historical place, you can be guided by the site with a dedicated historian or follow a training class with an expert in that specific area. The idea is to have real experts for a more compelling, well, experience.
Experiences will be launched in 650 cities worldwide, and Airbnb says this will expand. A higher layer will also be dubbed Airbnb Originals, the company promises that you can eat barbecue with Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City or Volleyball with an Olympian. There is no word about prices for this, but I suppose they might look more like Airbnb icons, because you come in for the chance of using them.
More likely you will notice that you are the more standard Airbnb experiences that want more than just standard.
3. Re -design app
Helping to make all this more attractive, and frankly more integrated in the booking of an Airbnb – perhaps a beach bungalow, a chic loft or a classic hut – the app also becomes smarter in a number of important ways. The layout is meant to make this power a little easier, and for the app to act as a companion that serves memories and suggestions.
The biggest change, however, is that Airbnb now enables users to look for characteristics worldwide in addition to the best services and experiences in one place. Under the hood, Airbnb says that it has built a whole new technical stack that adds capacity for these new offers and a large runway set up for the future.
And I think hints at the wider game here – Airbnb does not want to be an app that opens you once or twice a year for a large holiday or trip. It is there earlier and is an app with more tools in its chest, so you can book more casual everyday services, but also more memorable, whether you are on the road or for a stay.
Carolina Milanesi, president and chief analyst at Creative Strategies, TechRadar said: “Expanding to services is a lot of sense, because it makes a richer experience possible than the stay itself and can certainly add to it by adding a more visceral part to the stay to make a personal trainer by having multiple contact points throughout the year.”
It is certainly true, and this could also grow the Airbnb user base. We go hands-on with the new app, and maybe even a few experience or two, so we report back with more. But if you would like to try it, now update the latest version of the Airbnb app.
