PARDEW, 63, said Sunsport: ‘Palace is an’ edgy ‘club. Always about to see, whether it’s relegation or the eve of winning something.
“We get more street -like players such as Wayne Rooney at our academy, who just keep the ball at their feet. The area around the floor is ‘edgy’.
“We get more of that type than structured midfield players or center halves or sensible right backs. We get right -wing backs who just want to fly through the wing.

“He is a modest guy, he was very respectful for me when we met. Such a sweet person and to have that talent is a blessing.

“He passes the ball when he should and he crosses the ball when he should.
“And he shoots when he should and defend when he should. And he always does that. He gets the mixture just right.
“The 1990 team was Steve Coppell who did the best work he could do with the least amount of money.
“Non-League players such as me, Ian Wright, Andy Gray. Geoff Thomas came from Crewe, just like John Pemberton.

“It has raised a level. I would go so far that this is the best team I saw in Palace.
“I remember Gareth Southgate, when he went to the 1990 Cup final as a young player. He was plagued because he was the only one in the team that had O levels.
“But our center half Eric Young, has passed his accountancy exams after retirement, so there was some room for intelligence.”

He said: “I hope they get this over the row for the fans. They are brilliant. They will sing the whole game.
“Many of those people are in jobs where money is tight, so it is a big edition of this final.
