The disgusted flier added that flight staff had filed a complaint via the US airline’s website with all flight information, but were concerned they had not cleaned the plane well enough.

“I just checked and they turned the plane around in time… so I can’t believe they cleaned it properly,” they wrote.

According to the passenger, they saw the insect crawling on their pant leg while they were reading a book during the flight.

“It was a sharp contrast to the dark trouser color,” he explained. ‘I was able to get it to climb onto my finger and then put it on the napkin to show it to the FA.

‘Damn thing tried to bite my finger! SO BIG!!”

The passenger said they changed clothes at the airport and immediately put the clothes they were wearing in a bag.

‘They are being washed at the moment. Hoping that no stragglers landed on my backpack or checked bag during the clothing swap. I have already filed a complaint with AA,” they wrote.

The poster later shared the airline’s response, which they said was “inadequate.”

Pest control experts We recommend that you cover airplane seats, keep your bag safe by placing it in a plastic bag, and pack your own pillow and blanket to prevent bed bugs from sneaking off the plane with you.

Adult bed bugs are about the size of an apple seed. They are long and brown with a flat, oval-shaped body.

Young bed bugs, also called nymphs, are more translucent and whitish-yellow in color, according to the EPA website.

The most common bed bug, known as cimex lectularius, feeds on blood and causes itchy bites that irritate the skin.
