Amit Shah launches ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag’ for direct regional translation | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Home Minister Amit Shah will be the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag‘, a special initiative of the department official language under the Ministry of Home Affairs, at the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan here on Saturday, through which official communication between the Centre and the states can be translated directly, from Hindi or from English to the regional language of the respective state and vice versa.
“Just as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speeches in (non-Hindi speaking) states are instantly translated and made available to the public in their respective regional language, the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag’, in collaboration with the Centre for Deployment of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), will introduce a universal translation system for official communications. For example, if the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu writes a letter in Tamil to the Centre, the Union Minister can read it in his own language and get the reply sent in Tamil. This will help in giving centre stage to regional languages,” Secretary of the Official Language Department Anshuli Arya told a press conference here on Friday.
Arya added that the recommendations of the parliamentary committee on official language – contained in 12 reports, three of which are under consideration of the President of India – will be forwarded to the ministries concerned as per procedure and after receipt of their comments, a well-considered decision on the way forward will be taken. She said all the recommendations are designed to uphold India’s composite culture and emphasise on adopting a persuasive or motivational approach, rather than a punitive one, to promote the official language. It was in this spirit that the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) had rejected the parliamentary panel’s recommendation to include adverse remarks in the annual confidential report (ACR) of officers who failed to meet the targets for official communication in Hindi, Arya informed.
Shah, who will address the inaugural session of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the official language and the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan on Friday, will also launch a special edition of the Diamond Jubilee magazine ‘Rajbhasha Bharti’ and release a commemorative postage stamp and coin, a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs said.
He will present the ‘Rajbhasha Gaurav’ and ‘Rajbhasha Kirti’ awards on the occasion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasised on the development of Hindi and Indian languages and better coordination between these languages, the Home Ministry’s press release said.
The Home Minister had the idea to organise Hindi Diwas on a grand scale in different cities in 2019. Varanasi was to host Hindi Diwas and the first Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in 2021, followed by Surat in 2022 and Pune in 2023.
The two-day conference beginning here on Saturday will feature an in-depth discussion on the progress of Hindi as an official, public and contact language over the last 75 years. Besides, there will be a discussion on ‘India’s Cultural Heritage and Hindi’ and a session on three recently launched penal codes — Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023.
