Meanwhile, elsewhere in Maharashtra, Shah made it clear in his speech that there will be no religion-based reservation in education and employment.
People from SC, ST and OBC communities need not worry: Shah
The party has been wooing the Hindu community in these elections and the announcement is seen as a concrete attempt to adopt the party’s election slogans: “Batenge toh Katenge (divided we will be cut off), Ek hain toh safe hai ( We are safe when we are one)” a step forward. Speaking about the anti-conversion law, Shah said that the BJP will form an internal committee to draft the anti-conversion law. “…after the Mahayuti forms the government, it will form a committee to hold discussions with all stakeholders. It will come up with very strict laws so that no religious conversions take place,” Shah said.
In Mumbai, Shah said Prime Minister Modi had introduced a bill to improve Waqf governance, but in Karnataka efforts were being made to evict villages and even temples built on Waqf land. ‘When the opposition says it wants to improve the situation Waqf Board Billdoes this mean this can happen even in Maharashtra,” he said. Shah addressed a press meet after the event.
Mahayuti will meet and decide after polls: Shah on CM face
On who would become the next CM, Shah said after the elections, the three parties will meet and take a decision. As the increasing number of family members of party members were issued tickets, Shah said the party was making efforts to reduce the number of such candidates. “There are more family dynasties in MVA,” he said. On a common minimum programme, Shah said the first ten points of Sankalp Patra were of Mahayuti. “Each party will announce its own Sankalp Patra. Once Mahayuti forms a government, a committee of ministers from all three parties will be formed to commend the commitments made and ensure 100% implementation,” he said.
Attacking Uddhav Thackeray, he said MVA’s promises are merely to “grab power”. Urging people to vote for Mahayuti, he said the people’s mandate of 2019 was being betrayed. ‘Tackeray has to decide where he wants to sit. He is sitting with people who are against the abrogation of Article 370, the amendment of the CAA, the NCR and the Ram Mandir construction… I want to ask him if he can appeal to Rahul Gandhi to make some good words about Veer Savarkar, whether he can ask Congress members to say a few good words about Bal Thackeray.
