New Delhi: Former Judge of the Calcutta High Court Abhijit Gangopadhyay became a member on Thursday Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Earlier, on Tuesday, after resigning as a Supreme Court judge, he had announced that he would join the saffron party.
“Today I have entered a new field. I am happy that I can join the BJP and work as a party soldier. Our aim is to oust the corrupt TMC regime from the state,” he said after officially joining.
The former judge of the Calcutta High Court was given a grand welcome at the party office in Salt Lake by BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar. “The politics of West Bengal needs a person like Abhijit Gangopadhyay,” said BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the assembly.
