The Aizawl North 1 Assembly constituency is expected to witness a three-way race between the Mizo National Front (MNF) ZPM and the Congress.
Mizoram Assembly Elections: The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) registered a surprise victory in the Aizawl North 1 Assembly constituency as the two-time Congress MLA R. Romawia dethroned during the 2018 Mizoram assembly elections. The Aizawl North 1 Assembly Constituency is considered a swing district and has been in power since 1987 chosen almost all available options in the state, including an independent one.
However, despite the 2018 results, MNF has an edge in the Aizawl North 1 Assembly Constituency constituency as it has won the seat thrice since 1987.
Located in Aizawl district of Mizoram, it is one of the 40 Legislative Assembly constituencies in the state and the seat is reserved for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Tribes (ST).

The Aizawl North 1 Assembly constituency is expected to witness a three-way race between the Mizo National Front (MNF) ZPM and the Congress. The MNF, looking to reassert their dominance in the constituency, has fielded Mizoram power minister R Lalzirliana – a former Congress veteran, who switched parties before the 2018 elections and joined the MNF and completed a hat-trick of victories from his Tawi Bastion. .
The 74-year-old will face Congress leader Lalnunmawia Chuaungo and incumbent ZPM Vanlalhlana in a triangular contest.
Mizoram is expected to offer a three-way battle between the MNF, ZPM and Congress.
