Martin‘s novel Fire & Bloodis expected to make fewer time jumps after the first season took more than a decade to explain how Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) started their family feud. The season 1 finale set the stage for the civil war between Rhaenyra and half-brother Aegon II (Tom Glynn-Carney) over the Iron Throne. The turning point, which took place in the final episode, was the death of Rhaenyra’s son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault).
