Princess Leonor of Spain, 17, visits the military academy she will be attending in September

Princess Leonor of Spain looked radiant in white as she attended the military academy she is attending for the first time with her parents.

The 17-year-old heir to the throne matched her mother in a simple monochrome dress as she entered the military academy ‘Academia General Militar’ in Zaragoza.

Standing proudly next to her mother Queen Letizia and father King Felipe, Leonor sparkled in a white sundress with black polka dots and a sash.

The dress, which had a high neckline, echoed her mother’s chic style and she was Letizia’s doppelgänger as she stood next to the Spanish queen.

The appearance comes as Leonor – who has just graduated from UWC Atlantic College in Wales – known as ‘Hippy Hogwarts – is preparing to begin her military training in August.

Letizia, 50, also wore a white dress with a more structured shape, belted at the waist and peplum detailing.

Leonor will begin her military training before the end of summer in August.

While many of her peers are going to university, the eldest daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia returns to Spain to start training.

Earlier this year, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed Princess Leonor of Asturias’ next move in the Tatler society bible.

The training includes stints in the Armed Forces, Spanish Navy and Air Force.

In her speech in March, Ms. Robles affirmed: “In due course, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces will be a woman, and in recent years we have made a very significant effort to include women in the Armed Forces.”

The princess will begin her training at the Army Military Academy in Zaragoza before entering naval school, and will complete her three years at the General Air Academy.

In September last year, the Spanish palace announced that Princess Leonor will study law at university after three years of military training.

Although Leonor’s college choice is unknown, the princess’s academic background already resembles that of her father, King Felipe.

After graduating from high school at Lakefield College in Canada, Felipe returned to Spain and entered the General Military Academy of Zaragozo, continuing his studies at the Naval Military School in Marín.

He ended his training with a stint at the General Air Academy in San Javier.

He also completed his military education with a stint in the shop Juan Sebastián Elcano, aged 18 in 1987, and went on to study law at the Autonomous University of Madrid.

Leonor’s appearance comes as she begins to take the spotlight ahead of her three-year military training, which begins in September.

In recent days, she has appeared with her younger sister, Infanta Sofia, 16, as the sisters joined their parents to attend the Princess of Girona Foundation Awards at the Camiral Caldes de Malavella Hotel.

Leonor, who is first in line to the Spanish throne, gave a speech at the event, taking center stage as she prepared for a life in the spotlight.

Leonor was the grown-up royal by all accounts when she stepped out with her family.

In what seemed like a show of unity between the present and future monarch, the elegant teal dress with puffed sleeves matched the tie worn by her father, King Felipe.

King Felipe is honorary president of the organization on behalf of Princess Leonor.

The organization supports young people in their professional and personal development.

There is an interest in identifying talented young people who can serve as role models for other young people – while launching programs to improve their employability.

Leonor wore her locks in a simple low ponytail that showed off her glitzy diamond earrings.

The future Queen of Spain opted for a more full make-up look, eyeliner, shimmery eye shadow and lip gloss.

Her ever-supportive sister, Sofia, wore a shimmering silver short-sleeved dress that was gathered at the waist.

Although Infanta Sofia is still a royal, she does not hold the title of princess because she is second born and therefore not the heir to the throne.

Before the award ceremony, the royals listened to the presentation of the AmplificARTE project, an initiative of the Princess of Girona Foundation, yesterday.

The family looked united as they all donned the color blue as they focused intently on what was being said.

Earlier this week, Leonor and Sofia made a rare joint appearance without their parents when they attended a workshop on innovation and creativity – suggesting they’re one step closer to becoming Spanish working royals.
