Robert Hanssen, FBI agent exposed as a spy for Moscow, dies at age 79

Robert Hanssen, a former FBI agent who was sentenced to life in prison in 2002 for spying for Moscow during and after the Cold War in one of the most damaging espionage cases in American history, was found dead in his cell at a federal prison in Colorado The Federal Bureau of Prisons said Monday. He turned 79.

The agency said in a statement that Mr Hanssen was found unconscious just before 7 a.m. at the United States’ Florence Prison in Colorado. He was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts by medical workers.
