Today’s host’s instant regret over a poorly reviewed segment about Kanye West

We Shouldn’t Have: Today’s Host’s Instant Regret Over a Poorly Reviewed Segment About Kanye West’s Party Featuring a Nude Woman Covered in Sashimi

Today, Extra host Sylvia Jeffreys struggled through an awkward clip where she discussed a rap star’s birthday party, which showed naked women covered in sushi, saying she “probably shouldn’t have done” the segment.

Controversial rapper Ye West, formerly known as Kanye, celebrated his 46th birthday this weekend with an extravagant party in Los Angeles.

With his 10-year-old daughter North West in attendance, nude or semi-nude women stood around the event posing with sushi sprinkled over their bodies.

In a video shared to Twitter, North was seen gagging as she laid eyes on the spectacle, before the lens moved further, taking its look at the hybrid art installation and potential health code violation.

The 10-year-old then grabbed some sushi (from an oblivious dish) and gave it to Ye’s new partner and Melburnian, Bianca Censori.

During the Tuesday morning broadcast, Ms. Jeffreys said she found the performance inappropriate, especially in the presence of Ye’s young daughter.

“It’s absolutely disgusting that you can objectify women like that,” she said.

“But also the fact that Kanye let his 10-year-old daughter come to that party. What you do as an adult, you do as an adult, but to get your 10-year-old daughter to do that is horrible.’

Nova’s Tim Blackwell, who was on the show at the time, temporarily made the moment awkward.

“Watch out, those girls will eventually smell like fish,” he said.

The guest then made a joke about sashimi “sliding down” somewhere inappropriate, and the guest went on to say that the segment had now given him “ideas” for his own birthday party.

Ms. Jeffreys replied that she would not be attending that party, finishing the story by expressing to the show “probably shouldn’t have done that segment.”

Often referred to as “body sushi,” the Japanese practice of Nyotaimori is the samurai-era practice of eating sushi from a woman’s naked body.

Ms Jeffreys later admitted she ‘probably shouldn’t have done’ the segment
