A man has been rushed to hospital after an explosion, believed to be caused by a barbecue fire, hit an apartment in Sydney’s west.
Emergency services were called to Meredith Street, in Bankstown, just after 3pm on Thursday after a man in his 30s fell from a window of a block of flats.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance told Daily Mail Australia the man suffered serious burns to his arms, leg and face.
He was treated at the scene and taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.
Fire and Rescue NSW Chief Inspector Adam Dewberry told Daily Mail the man was cooking on the barbecue on the second floor balcony of the apartment.
Supt Dewberry said crews were called to the scene after a gas leak and the man jumped from the balcony.
‘He suffered serious burns. The scene was cleared at 10 past four,” he said.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted NSW Police for comment.
