Angelina Jolie once hired a hitman to plan her own murder at age 22 — but the hitman had a surprising reaction to her gruesome plan
Angelina Jolie once hired a hitman to plan her own murder, while struggling with suicidal thoughts in the past.
The 49-year-old Oscar winner, who is still embroiled in a divorce battle with Brad Pitt, 60, first revealed in 2001 that she had spoken to a hitman during a “pretty dark” period in her life, at the age of 22.
She told IMDB: ‘This may sound crazy, but there was a point where I was going to hire someone to kill me.’
She said she would rather be murdered than commit suicide because it would be easier for her loved ones to cope with death.
Further opening in 2003 The face interview she said about finding a hitman: “They’re not that hard to find in New York. As crazy as it sounds, I think a lot of people contemplate suicide when they’re young.

‘I was very aware that so many people around me, like my mother, would feel like they weren’t giving or doing enough if I had taken my own life. So my solution to that was that if someone else had taken my life – like in a ‘robbery’ – it would be murder and no one would feel like they had let me down.
Jolie said that she planned to ‘withdraw money over a period of time so that there would not be a large amount of money in my bank account’ to the killer.
However, the hitman responded in a surprising way: Jolie said: ‘He was a decent person and asked if I could think about it and call him again in two months. Something changed in my life and I thought I could handle it.
In 2011, Jolie hinted at a dark past, telling 60 Minutes, “I’ve been through tougher, darker times and I survived them. I didn’t die young, so I’m very lucky. There are other artists and people who didn’t survive certain things.
“I think people can imagine that I did the most dangerous and the worst thing,” she said at the time.
“For many reasons I shouldn’t be here. You think about all those too many times you got too close to too many dangerous things, took too many chances too far.”
Speaking to Time, Jolie talked about her younger years and said that mothering her six children had given her the opportunity to grow as a person.
She said: ‘I wasn’t a very stable young person. I never thought I could be anyone’s mother. I remember the decision to become a parent. It wasn’t hard to love. What was hard was knowing that from now on I had to be the one to make sure everything went well.

The star is now one of Hollywood’s most iconic actresses, winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the age of 25 for her role in the 1999 film Girl, Interrupted.
Speaking to The Times in November 2021, she said: “I’ve had a very blessed life, but I’ve had my own challenges. I’ve had PTSD.
“You often feel broken and wonder what you’re capable of. You worry that you can’t do enough for the people you love.”
Pitt and Jolie entered a public relationship shortly after he and then-wife Jennifer Aniston announced their separation in 2005.
The Mr. And Mrs. Smith cast members remained single for years, despite having multiple adopted and biological children. They got engaged in 2012, and finally tied the knot in 2014.
It wasn’t until two years later, in 2016, that the Maleficent actress filed for divorce. In 2019, she and Pitt were officially declared single.
Pitt is now in a relationship with Ines de Ramon, 35.
This follows recent claims that Pitt and Jolie’s eight-year divorce is still ongoing because neither star can ‘let it go’.
A source said People “Their differences took over” in the relationship, they added, adding that the situation “got bad and wasn’t good for anyone.”
“All that bitterness is partly why the divorce has lasted so many years. Neither of them is letting it go. You would think they would have gotten over it and just made up.”
The star is now a mother of six children: she is the parent of Maddox (22), Pax (20), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18) and Knox and Vivienne (16).
Another insider said: “They both had issues with each other. The differences piled up over time. It’s very sad for the children, but also for the parents. Divorce, especially a high-profile divorce, can be challenging for the whole family.
“They both care about the children.”
The couple’s eldest child, Shiloh Jolie, has filed a petition to legally remove the actor’s last name, placing an ad in The LA Times.
Shiloh, who hired and paid her own attorney when she filed to drop her Pitt name on her 18th birthday in May, filed to change her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie, according to the newspaper report obtained by TMZ.
The advertisement is a standard step before the court approves a name change.
Pitt has been embroiled in an ongoing divorce battle for years, reportedly stemming from a 2016 incident on a plane in which Jolie accused Pitt of assaulting her; the family is seen dating back to 2011
The communication also contains states that anyone who objects to the petition must appear before the court later this month.
A source close to the case told Dailymail.com last month: ‘Shiloh has hired her own lawyer and paid the fees herself, so Angie doesn’t know and can’t talk about it.
