Anmol, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, detained in US
NEW DELHI: Anmol Bishnoithe younger brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, is arrested early Sunday in Sacramento, US. It is learned that the FBI is in the process of verifying his identity, possibly through a voice sample or a DNA match, sources said.
Officials from US agencies, who confirmed his presence in America earlier this month, are in contact with Indian agencies for follow-up processes, including his deportation. Anmol, who has been issued a red charge card against him by Interpol, is accused in several high-profile cases, including the recent murder of Baba Siddique and the shooting outside Salman Khan’s residence.
A Facebook account allegedly owned by Anmol had claimed responsibility for the shooting incident outside Salman Khan’s residence in April this year. The police then chanced upon an audio recording of a conversation between Anmol and Vicky Gupta, one of the gunmen involved in the incident. Anmol is also accused of supplying weapons and logistical support to the gunmen of Sidhu Moosewala, who was killed on May 29, 2022. Anmol had left the country on a fake passport in April, a month before the singer was targeted.

Anmol has also been accused of supplying weapons and logistical support to the gunmen of late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, who was killed on May 29, 2022. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for Anmol in October, soon after his alleged role in Baba Siddique’s murder came to light. Mumbai Police has approached the court to initiate the trial against Anmol’s extradition and also sent a communication to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through MHA.
Anmol’s notoriety extends to a litany of crimes, with as many as 18 cases registered against him for a range of crimes including extortion – the long sheet underlining his reputation as a formidable figure in the underworld.
Anmol alias Bhanu, a resident of Fazilka in Punjab, has been named in two chargesheets filed by NIA in cases registered in 2022. Last year, NIA had filed a chargesheet against nearly a dozen persons, including Lawrence and Anmol. The indictment alleged that the suspects were part of a larger criminal conspiracy aimed at unleashing a reign of terror and carrying out targeted assassinations of prominent social and religious leaders, film personalities, singers and businessmen.
