Any ‘conspiracy’ to cause train accidents will not last long: Amit Shah | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said any “conspiracy” against train operations and attempts to cause accidents will not last long. He said investigation agencies are probing the reasons behind accidents and added that CBI, NIA, railway police and the home ministry are working together to prepare the roadmap for protection of railway assets.
Responding to a question on the trend of train accidents and a suspected design behind it, Shah said, “As far as accidents are concerned, we will investigate the root cause of it. Whatever the reason, the government is determined to tackle the problem. Hadse agar sadhyantra hai toh bahut der nahin chalega (If this is a conspiracyit won’t take long). If there are holes, they will be filled.”
There have been more than two dozen cases of foreign objects being found on rail tracks and attempts to damage rail assets.
Sources said that some of the specific areas where such attempts are being made have been identified and there is increased vigil on these stretches. For instance, there have been around five such incidents around Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, a source said.
Earlier, I spoke to reporters after the release of the report on the first 100 days of NDA government. Shah said he had a discussion with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and a roadmap has been prepared for the security of railway assets and train operations. “We have taken a strong stand on the recent incidents and will come up with a comprehensive security plan to protect the railway infrastructure from sabotage,” he said.
The Congress alleged that there had been 38 train accidents in the first 100 days of rule and accused Vaishnaw of dismissing them as “minor incidents”.
