What happened at the last Apple Event?
- WWDC 2024 revealed major upgrades to iOS, macOS, wachOS, and more
- Apple Intelligence is Cupertino’s foray into AI
- A smarter Siri with generative AI powers
- Apple Vision Pro finally gets global launch dates
Apple’s last event took place on June 10, 2024, with the Worldwide Developers Conference. As mentioned, we got to see official updates of all of Apple’s major software platforms.
These include smarter features from iOS (and a new gaming mode) and macOS, slicker fitness tools for watchOS, and… er… a native calculator app for iPadOS 18. If you’re interested in trying out earlier versions of these updated operating systems, check out our guides on how to get the iOS 18 beta on your iPhone and how to get the watchOS 11 beta on your Apple Watch.
But the most notable announcement was the unveiling of Apple Intelligence. With this, Apple is taking a big step towards AI, with a focus on consumers. It brings AI tools and services to iPhones, iPads and Macs, while keeping user data as private as possible.
And Siri gets a big dose of intelligence via ChatGPT, allowing users to naturally converse with the virtual assistant and have it understand them better. Additionally, the smarts of Siri will be deeply integrated, letting you do things like type out questions to Siri by double-tapping the bottom of the screen, and switching between speech and text.
