Apple Previously considered launching its own cloud services to compete with important Hyerscaler -alternatives such as Amazon Webservices, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, but apparently drawn the idea.
A report of The information Remarks that the initiative would be known as Project ACDC (Apple Chips in Data Centers) and developers would have given access to Apple’s own M-series chips.
Reportedly, Apple was focused on offering a cheaper and more efficient alternative to traditional cloud platforms that use Intel Or GPU-heavy servers by replacing them with its own M-series chips, which are known for their computer efficiency and strong AI infference options.
Allegedly Apple wanted to launch an AWS rival
Apple uses all its M-series Chips applications outside its Mac and iPad range-it-all started to test its chips in data centers with the launch of Private Cloud Compute (PCC), which processes complex AI querys when processing power on the devices is not sufficient.
Other Apple services, such as Siri, photos and music, also had access to M-series chips to improve performance in things such as searching.
It may even be possible that these efforts can support the much -needed improved version of Siri.
With potential plans to launch the service to developers through its developer relationship team, instead of creating a new sales team, Project ACDC would largely be an Apple-oriented initiative, which means that developers are able to design iOS and MacOS apps directly on Apple’s chips, reduce dependence on expensive GPUs.
Michael Abbott, the Exec earlier behind the ACDC Project, left the company in 2023, but the discussions were reportedly continued in the early 2024. The future of the project remains uncertain.
However, Apple has previously indicated that he would grow the income of services, and Project ACDC could certainly coordinate with that.
It can also help Apple to save costs in its own development, whereby the company is said to spend $ 7 billion on third parties annually cloud services (Via Apple Insider).
