Apple leads Indian tablet market with 25.38 percent share: report

The tablet market shipment in India declined 22 percent year-on-year in the June 2023 quarter, while it grew 29 percent quarter-on-quarter, CyberMedia Research said in a report. Apple led the tablet market with a marginally higher share than Samsung.

“The total tablet market showed a decline of 22 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2023,” CMR’s report on the tablet PC market said.

According to the report, 5G tablets are showing a 7 percent year-on-year growth.

“WiFi tablet shipments increased 12 percent year-on-year, representing a 54 percent share of shipments,” the report said.

Tablet shipments from both Apple and Samsung increased six percent in the quarter.

However, Apple was the market leader with a 25.38 percent share, closely followed by Samsung with 25.31 percent.

“Apple retained the lead with a market share of 25.38 percent, driven by its premium offerings. Samsung secured the second spot with a market share of 25.31 percent,” the report said.

Although Lenovo’s shipments fell by 30 percent, the company still managed to secure third place with a 23 percent market share.

Realme tablet shipments more than halved to register 8 percent market share. Xiaomi tablet shipments grew 155 percent to register 6 percent market share.

“As the holiday season approaches, we anticipate an increase in tablet purchases. The remarkable speed and minimal latency of 5G heralds new prospects for tablet gaming.

“The advent of foldable devices bridges the gap between conventional tablets and laptops, bringing a combination of portability and increased productivity,” said Menka Kumari, research analyst at CyberMedia Industry Intelligence Group.
