Apple Seeds New iOS 18 Developer, Public Beta Updates With These Features
iOS 18 Developer Beta 6 and Public Beta 4 for iPhone have begun rolling out to Apple. As with previous beta updates, both introduce a handful of changes not shown off at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 10. There are tweaks to the user interface (UI) of apps like Apple Music, and there’s now a dedicated Control Center button for toggling Bluetooth on and off rather than having to jump to the grouped connectivity options.
iOS 18 Update Features
According to Apple’s release notesiOS 18 Public Beta 4 brings new splash screens that appear when you first open apps like Home, Notes, and Photos after the update. Additionally, the Browse tab in Apple Music, which lets users browse artists, genres, albums, and playlists, has been renamed to New.
One of the most minor but highly requested additions is a dedicated Bluetooth control toggle for the iPhone’s Control Center. Once rolled out, users will be able to toggle Bluetooth on and off and access other controls simply by opening the panel. Before the update, it was necessary to first investigate connectivity options.
There have also been changes to app icons. When dark mode is enabled, app icons in notifications will match the theme, instead of the default light mode theme. Additionally, users can now create custom shades for each home and lock screen combination. They can save an app’s shade settings along with their wallpaper and change them by long-pressing on the home screen and swiping through the saved settings.
Other updates
In addition to iOS 18 Developer Beta 6, Apple also rolled out the sixth developer beta updates for iPadOS 18, watchOS 11, visionOS 2, tvOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It also introduced the fourth public beta updates for the aforementioned firmware, which powers Apple devices including the iPad, Apple Watch, Mac, and more. The rollout also coincides with the release of the iOS 18.1 Developer Beta 2 update, which introduces Apple Intelligence features.
