Apple TV Plus subscribers just got a free MLS season pass
Major League Soccer ends next month, and to entice you into the action, Apple has slashed the cost of the season pass to its lowest price ever. Even better, if you’re an Apple TV Plus subscriber, you can get it for free.
If you’re not a subscriber, the Season Pass has been reduced to $9.99 for the remainder of the season. That’s a pretty good deal, as the Season Pass normally costs $14.99 per month.
As we reported last month, Apple’s 10-year, $2.5 billion deal with Major League Soccer appears to be paying off. Lionel Messi plays a big part in that: when Messi joined Inter Miami, the team’s subscriber count doubled in its first month.
Whether you an apple TV Plus subscriber or not, it’s worth noting that this is a strictly limited deal: when the current season ends, the MLS Season Pass will revert to its usual price. Apple is good about letting you know when subscriptions are about to renew, but you might want to keep an eye on this to be sure.
How to Watch MLS Season Pass on Apple TV
You can access the MLS Season Pass through the Apple TV app, which is now available on a wide range of platforms, not just Apple. It’s available on PlayStation, Xbox, Amazon Fire Stick, Roku, and on the web at tv.apple.com at.
Sports is becoming an increasingly important part of the top streaming services, because sports are obviously big business and can attract huge audiences. Max adds streaming of MLB, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, and the National Collegiate Athletics Association, and Prime Video’s NFL coverage is a key differentiator between them and their rivals.
Research by industry observers Ampere analysis says that streamers will have spent a whopping $8.5 billion on sports streaming rights in 2023, and according to the New York Times Sports accounted for 95 of the 100 most-watched shows on TV. That’s a lot of viewers, and with this Season Pass promo, Apple is clearly hoping to convert many of those viewers into subscribers who will continue to stream MLS for years to come.
