Apple’s new Macs with M4 processors are rumored to go on sale in November.
MacRumorshas, to be precise, learned from a supposedly reliable source that all of Apple’s planned M4 Macs will be released in November.
As the tech site notes, this doesn’t rule out Apple announcing the M4 Macs before November. As always, the standard approach is to reveal the hardware first, with it going on sale a bit later.
Rumors suggest we’ll see new MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models featuring the M4 SoC. We’re also expecting refreshed versions of the Mac mini and iMac M4.
If they all arrive as planned, these Macs could go on sale throughout November. MacRumors doesn’t provide any further details, other than to say that month is the expected shipping date.
Analysis: Logical conclusion about the launch date
So how soon could the first reveal of these M4 Macs be? Could we get an announcement at Apple’s September 9th event next week? No, in a word, because while this event will (very likely) see the launch of macOS 15 Sequoia, there won’t be any Macs on the hardware front (what we will see is the big iPhone 16 launch, plus Apple Watches and AirPods).
As MacRumors points out, the announcement of these new M4 MacBooks and other Mac computers will likely happen in October, which makes sense to give Apple some breathing room after its September event, and of course, since October is the month before November. If November is the on-sale date, then the Mac M4 reveal should actually happen in October.
This would also be in line with Apple’s launch timing pattern last year, where we had the “Scary Fast” reveal in late October, followed by Mac launches in early November.
There’s a lot of excitement about not only what the M4 chip will bring to the Mac lineup – so far it’s only appeared in the iPad Pro – but also the prospect that Apple could (finally) move with a minimum spec of 16GB of system RAM across all of its entry-level Macs. It’s about time, especially when it comes to the MacBook Pro 14-inch which, oddly enough, still starts at 8GB with the current model.
