Are you a Call of Duty cheater? Beware: AI is coming after you, as Activision has 19,000 bans for ranked play with Black Ops 6
- Call of Duty has ramped up the AI with code optimizations to catch cheaters
- Since ranking play launched a week ago, 19,000 bans have been issued
- But cheating still remains a thorny issue with Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been out for a month now, and multiplayer is naturally a place where cheaters do their best to ruin everyone else’s fun – but Activision is doing its best to catch them out with an increasing emphasis on using AI.
Call of Duty games use an internal anti-cheat (at the kernel level) called Ricochet, and on X the developer has outlined the latest achievements in eliminating cheaters.
Apparently Ricochet has enabled the ban of over 19,000 cheaters in ranked play since that mode’s launch (a week ago).

Analysis: The war on cheats
Fewer cheaters is of course good news for everyone – except for the offenders themselves, of course. However, as someone commenting on the above post on X points out, all cheaters create a new account after being banned. Or we should clarify: persistent or committed cheaters do this.
So, should Activision just give up and not worry? Obviously not, and some more casual cheaters might be deterred by a ban (or repeated bans, for sure). But what about the more hardcore cheats out there? The solutions to obtain a new account (including buying a hacked account) are unfortunately not expensive or difficult to implement.
While AI will likely be of great help to police fraud, especially as these systems continue to be tightened, it will need to do so in a very timely manner to put proper roadblocks in the way of those who want to break the rules. rules in Black Ops 6 (or other games).
Meanwhile, the arguments continue over the best way to deal with determined Call of Duty cheaters, including enforcing two-factor authentication for accounts to at least help combat the number of stolen accounts – but there are thorny issues no matter how you look at it views. .
