Arm PCs running Windows 11 will soon use Adobe Premiere Pro 2025
Microsoft released the latest Windows 11 Insider Preview on the Canary Channel on Wednesday, with two major upgrades. The biggest addition is an update to the Prism emulator for Arm PCs, which adds support for additional extensions on devices running Windows 11 on Arm-based chipsets. This will allow these devices to run more older apps and games, as well as the latest Adobe Premiere Pro 2025. Additionally, the update also introduced a new on-screen gamepad keyboard.
Windows 11 Insider Preview gets updated prism emulator
In his Windows Insider blog postMicrosoft has announced the release of Windows 11 Insider Preview build 27744. The new version updates the Prism emulator so that laptops and desktops with Arm chipsets, such as the Snapdragon X series, can run unsupported apps and games.
Microsoft says the upgraded Prism “will be able to run more 64-bit x86 (x64) applications by adding support for more CPU features under emulation. This means that software such as Adobe Premiere Pro 2025 and older game titles will now work on these devices.
The newly added CPU extensions with this version of the emulator include AVX, AVX2, BMI, FMA, F16C and more. The tech giant emphasized that while these extensions are not necessary to run Windows, they have become so common that some apps expect devices to support them. It is notable that in the preview version only x64 applications can use these new CPU features.
In addition, Microsoft has also introduced a new on-screen gamepad keyboard layout in Windows 11 Insider Preview. It supports the ability to use the user’s Xbox controller for navigation and typing. The keyboard also comes with button accelerators and is vertically aligned for better controller navigation.
Moreover, the new Windows 11 build also fixes several bugs and glitches. The design of the Disconnect and Log Out dialog box in Task Manager now supports dark mode and text scaling. Another issue where PCs with older Nvidia GPUs would see the screen appear as a black screen has also been resolved.
