Carlos Vela has announced that he will retire from football at the age of 36.

The Mexican striker spent the first seven years of his two-Decennia career Arsenal.

Vela was signed by the Gunners of the youth team of the Mexican side Guadalajara in 2003.

Vela said in a statement: “During my career I have experienced very special moments, but the time has come to officially retire from professional football.

“It was an honor and a privilege to share my career with you all.”
