Transparent screens on devices such as smartphones and tablets have long been a staple of SCI-Fi films and TV programs because they look good, even if they are not always practical. But now they are Begin to become a reality.
Taiwanese display manufacturer AUO (AU Optronics Corporation), which was formed in 2001 by the merger of Acer Display technology and UNIPAC Optoelectronics Corporation, have shown a double-sided transparent micro-LED display on touch Taiwan 2025.
The first of its kind of display is a thin 17.3-inch screen that offers a transparent experience on both sides and can present different content, depending on the viewing angle.
For use in aircraft and in houses and shops
The screen can display individual images or data on each side and AUO suggests that a possible use case would be in first -class aviation cabins, where passengers and stewardesses can each see their own interfaces.
The AUO demo included a translation interface, with seamless multilingual communication via the display itself. Commercial scenarios such as shopping windows, museum exhibitions and digital signage are also seen as natural attacks for technology.
The ultra-thin design, combined with transparent micro-LED technology, represents a shift from traditional display use to something that is closer to an environmental computer.
In contrast to single -sided transparent OLEDs, which often struggle with brightness and sculpture in direct light, Auo’s Micro LED offers a higher brightness and color performance – possibly overcoming many of those limitations.
AUO has not unveiled when it expects the display to go into production, nor has it given the only hint when praising, although it is fair to say that the screens will not be cheap.
A video posted on YouTube Shows the screen that is used in the 50 seconds.
