Aston Villa have made an initial bid of £10million for Wolves for midfielder Leander Dendocker.
Dendoncker is an attractive option as he can play in two central midfield roles as well as in defence.
Dendoncker saw an approach from Everton rejected earlier this week and is keen to leave Molineux for more playing time.
Aston Villa has applied for Wolves’ versatile midfielder Leander Dendoncker
Villa also asked about Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher, but he has eight other top candidates
Once the move is complete, Douglas Luiz could pave the way to join Arsenal.
Both Villa and Wolves have also shown strong interest in West Ham centre-back Craig Dawson.
Villa also asked about Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher on Wednesday, but the 22-year-old has eight Premier League clubs waiting to see if his club will allow him today.
Dendoncker played five games for Wolves this season, but has not started at the highest level in any of their last three games.

Gallagher, meanwhile, started in Chelsea’s recent Premier League games against Leeds and Leicester, but was sent off against the Foxes.
However, the Belgium and England internationals could be a replacement for Luiz, with Arsenal considering a dramatic transfer on the deadline.
Earlier on Thursday, it emerged that Liverpool had been trialled over a transfer for the Brazilian, while Jurgen Klopp took cover for his injury-plagued side.
But the Reds have now turned their attention to Arthur Melo, the Juventus outcast, and it looks like they will finalize a lease for the Brazilian by the 11 p.m. deadline.
Luiz’s current contract with Villa Park expires next summer, but the 24-year-old could leave early.
