Astro Bot gameplay footage surfaces online ahead of September 6 launch

Astro Bot, the upcoming sequel to Astro’s Playroom, was announced during Sony’s State of Play showcase back in May. Now, gameplay from the PlayStation-exclusive game has apparently leaked. Over eight minutes of gameplay has surfaced from the 3D platformer, which features multiple levels, enemy encounters, and traversal mechanics. The gameplay footage is reportedly the same as the demo showcase shown off at Summer Game Fest back in June. Astro Bot is set to release exclusively on PS5 on September 6.

As noted by VGCThe off-screen footage of Astro Bot gameplay was captured by A9VG at the ChinaJoy digital entertainment expo in Shanghai.

The film materialrecorded off-screen, shows off over eight minutes of Astro Bot gameplay, detailing platforming mechanics and Astro’s abilities in the game. The footage also shows the titular bot taking on a giant octopus boss, in an encounter reminiscent of boss battles from Super Mario Odyssey, and Astro traveling to different levels in a galaxy in an airplane.

Astro Bot is the sequel to Astro’s Playroom, the free-to-play platformer that comes pre-installed on every PS5 and serves as a handy demo for the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features.

The sequel, developed by Team Asobi, will be a space adventure platformer, much more expansive in scope than Astro’s Playroom. Astro Bot will let players explore six star systems and over 80 levels, and hunt down Astro’s crew.

The game will feature diverse environments and all-new powers for Astro to help him defeat a new list of enemies and gigantic bosses. Astro Bot will also come with DualSense controller functionality for a more immersive experience.

Astro Bot is a PS5 exclusive and is set to launch on September 6. Pre-orders for the game are live now. The sequel to Astro’s Playroom is not free-to-play, with the Standard Edition of the title costing Rs. 3,999.
