Australia Post delivery driver caught skipping customer’s express mail delivery
An angry customer has told how an Australia Post worker sped past his house without stopping to deliver his express parcel.
The postman’s white van was seen driving close to the man’s home in Auchenflower, in Brisbane’s west, at around 11.30am on Monday morning.
We watched as the driver slowed down and took a picture of the man’s mailbox with his phone out the window, then slowed down again.
‘Express Post [not delivered] today. Probably late for a date,’ the customer captioned the video on Reddit.
The customer, who wished to remain anonymous, told Daily Mail Australia he was at home when the driver drove past.
He said the package contained parts for an air conditioner and that he had paid extra to have the package delivered expeditiously so the installer could install the new system.
“I was home all day looking after the kids and it was a hassle to get the kids in the car and drive to the post office to pick up the package,” he said.
He said he received a notification on his phone that he was not home when the driver arrived, prompting him to contact Australia Post and file a complaint.
The CCTV footage, uploaded to Reddit, showed the driver slowing down as he held up a phone to take a photo of the mailbox (pictured)
“I wish they would at least call him and tell him to come back and deliver the package, but apparently they can’t and it’s frustrating,” he said.
The man explained that delivery drivers no longer need to leave a note to let customers know they missed the delivery time.
Instead, drivers simply take a photo of the mailbox at the address, before notifying customers that they can collect their parcel from the nearest post office.
The angry customer had to collect the parcel himself from the Toowong Business Centre on Wednesday.
He said Australia Post staff, including the case manager assigned to handle his complaint, were helpful in his investigation.
He also uploaded an email from the case manager, which showed that an investigation had been conducted into the matter.
“We have investigated the issue of failed delivery attempts at the Pinkenba Parcel Delivery Centre,” the email said.
‘They confirmed that this had been discussed with the staff involved and that appropriate action had been taken to ensure that this did not happen again.’

Dozens of people expressed their condolences to the man, and many shared their own horrific delivery experiences in the Reddit thread.
“I was home all day and the driver didn’t even come to my house and went straight to the post office. It was also meant as an express delivery,” one person wrote.
Others claimed that a new delivery person was assigned to their route after they complained that their packages had not been delivered.
“I agree with this. I have previously submitted footage of [Australia Post] “Contractors doing the same thing and then suddenly I have a new delivery person,” someone said.
Australia Post charges customers between $14.45 and $31.35 to deliver parcels via express shipping, depending on the size of the parcel.
An Australia Post spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that the delivery should have taken place initially and that the issue has now been resolved.
“This matter is clearly not in line with the high standards we expect from our drivers and Australia Post has sincerely apologised to the customer,” the spokeswoman said.
‘After contacting the customer, we took swift action to address this issue. Our local team has taken appropriate action.’
