Australian tourist Cameron Twiss disappears while walking in Albania – as a desperate search is launched after a discovery at his hostel
- The 28-year-old was visiting the Alps in the small European country
An Australian man has gone missing while walking in Albania. His passport and belongings were found at the hostel where he was staying.
Cameron Twiss, 28, from Adelaide, was last seen five and a half weeks ago when he set out for a walk from the village of Valbona in the country’s north.
Albanian authorities launched a search and his brother traveled from Australia to the country in southeastern Europe to help them, but no trace of Mr Twiss has been found.
The avid traveler had set out on October 13 for a popular hiking trail that links Valbona to the nearby village of Teth.
The 10-hour hike follows a 17km route, including a mountain pass through a remote area of the Albanian Alps where there are no roads.
More to follow.
