Baba Siddique case: Devendra Fadnavis mentions 'some definitive clues', mother on role of Lawrence Bishnoi gang
Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said police were seeking “some definitive clues” in the NCP (Ajit) official Baba Siddique‘s murder the previous day, but refused to confirm the Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s involvement.
“Many theories are put forward in the media, but there is nothing official about it. All I can say is that a number of angles have emerged and investigations are underway,” said Fadnavis, who is also the Home Minister, when asked whether the Bishnoi gang had committed the murder.
Fadnavis said two suspects have been arrested. “There are some clues emerging, but it wouldn’t be right to talk about them here,” he said.
Fadnavis slammed Sharad Pawar for politicizing the issue after the NCP (Pawar) veteran said the killing was a sign of Maharashtra’s “deteriorating law and order”.
“Pawar is only focused on securing power. Even after such a serious incident, all they can think about is coming to power, but we are thinking about Maharashtra,” the Home Minister said.
The deputy CM described Siddique’s death as a personal loss. “It is very sad because I had a close friendship with Baba Siddique. We worked together in the legislature for many years. It is a shock to all of us,” he said.
