NEW DELHI: Mumbai police on Sunday identified a fourth suspect in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddique, who was shot multiple times on Saturday before succumbing to his injuries.
Identified as Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtarpolice said he provided support for the gunmen.
Akhtar, along with the third suspect Shivkumar Gautamgoes into hiding.
Gautam and Dharamraj Kashayap, who were arrested a day earlier, belong to the same Gandara village in UP, with no criminal background.
“Shiv Kumar had gone to Maharashtra a few years ago to work as a laborer and invited Dharmaraj to join him,” Kaiserganj Circle Officer (CO) Anil Kumar Singh said as quoted by PTI.
Meanwhile, the two suspects arrested so far in the case appeared in court on Sunday. Prosecutors told the court that 28 live rounds had been recovered from the suspect, adding that they were possibly linked to an international gang.
The police have demanded fourteen days of judicial custody against the two. The court has remanded Gurmail Singh in custody till October 21.
It further ordered an age determination test for Dharamraj Kashayap after there were disagreements in the court over his age. Kashayap told the court that he was 17 years old. However, prosecutors noted that his Aadhaar card showed him to be 19 years old.
