Bangladeshi government has clarified mass layoffs of doctors – fruitless | India News – Times of India

The Bangladeshi government has clarified the mass dismissals of doctors: fruitless
Bangladeshi government made it clear on Saturday that the mass resignations submitted by faculties of various medical colleges as fruitless. Following the RG Kar incident and junior doctors during the hunger strike, several medical colleges had submitted mass resignations including teachers of RG Kar, IPGMER SSKM, North Bengal Medical College and on Saturday, resignation of 18 teachers of PC Sen medical college was submitted.
Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee’s chief adviser Alapan Bandyopadhyay made it clear at a press meet in Nabanna on Saturday that the resignation issue cannot be the subject of a mass petition.
He said that the mass dismissals submitted had no legal value as dismissal is a subject between employer and employee and therefore all must resign individually as dismissal is governed by service rules. He said this as several news reports were doing the rounds about the dismissal of teachers prompting the state government to clarify that it had no legal validity.
Earlier on Friday, Chief Secretary Manoj Pant had urged the trainee doctors to withdraw from their hunger strike and outlined steps taken to ensure safety in hospitals. He stated that Rs 113 crore was utilized and more than 7,000 CCTVs were installed in all hospitals along with toilets.
