Beautician with ‘zero hair volume’ shares trick for instant thicker hair in 30 seconds
A beautician has revealed how she made her fine hair thicker with a simple, cheap trick.
Sara Potter, a hair extension artist and instructor, explained that she has “extremely fine, straight, flat hair,” but she can quickly add volume to it.
She went to her TikTok page @sarapotterhair to share a super quick tutorial on how to transform your hair that has gone viral and has been viewed over 2.7 million times.
Sara says the tutorial is for “girls with zero volume in their hair.”
Sara starts with a center parting and divides a small section of hair at the front of her face.
Then she puts the rest of her hair behind her shoulders and then takes a round hairbrush.
Next, Sara applies a heat protectant foam to the two sides of her hair before grabbing the round brush and a blow dryer.
She then brushes out her hair, making sure to keep the hair wrapped around the brush, and repeats.
Sara finishes styling by rolling the hair around the brush and letting the blow dryer blow heat onto the hair for a few seconds, then she takes the hair off and lets it fall back.
Her hair is noticeably fuller around her face.
Sara’s viral video drew more than 150 people to the comments section to share their thoughts and ask further questions.
A beauty fan wrote: “What do you recommend for extremely oily hair, for example at night?

“Have you tried the Colour Wow Shampoo yet? I love it [it]!”
Another asked: “Do you feel like there’s product in there?”

Tips for making hair thicker
Scalp massage: Regular scalp massages can stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles, which promotes hair growth. Use your fingertips to gently massage your scalp in circular motions for a few minutes daily.
Volumizing shampoo and conditioner: Opt for products that are specifically designed to add volume and thickness. Look for ingredients like biotin, collagen, and keratin, which can help strengthen and add fullness to your hair.
Avoid heavy products: Stay away from heavy conditioners and styling products that can weigh your hair down. Instead, use lightweight, volumizing mousses or sprays.
Hair dryer upside down: Flip your head upside down while blow-drying to add volume to the roots. Use a round brush to lift hair as you dry, focusing on the roots for extra lift.
Dry shampoo: Not just for freshening up between washes, dry shampoo can also add texture and volume to your hair. Spritz it at the roots and work it in with your fingers for an instant lift.
Haircut and style: A good haircut can make a world of difference. Layers can add volume, while certain styles, like a blunt bob, can give the illusion of thicker hair. Consult your stylist for the best haircut for your hair type.
Diet and supplements: A healthy diet rich in vitamins and minerals is crucial for hair health. Foods high in biotin, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids can promote hair growth. You may also consider taking a hair supplement, but always consult a healthcare professional first.
Prevent heat damage: Overuse of heat styling tools can damage your hair and make it appear thinner. Try to limit the use of flat irons, curling irons and hot rollers and always use a heat protection spray if you do use them.
Use a thickening serum or spray: There are many products on the market designed to thicken hair strands. Apply a thickening serum or spray to damp hair before styling for an extra boost.
Sleeping on side: Swap your cotton pillowcase for a silk one. Silk is gentler on your hair, reduces friction and breakage, which can help maintain your hair’s thickness.
Avoid tight hairstyles: Pulling your hair back too tightly can cause breakage and hair loss over time. Opt for looser styles and use soft hair ties to minimize damage.
