After Amber figured out what she needed to change, she took to TikTok to join the 719,500 people sharing advice on “hair growth.”

She subtitled the video: “This could be the reason you have frizzy, dry hair.

“Follow my tips to prevent damage.”

Amber revealed that if your hair breaks, it could be due to “hard water damage”.

She explained that the signs to look out for are dry, frizzy hair, breakage, lack of shine and light strands.

Hair experts have also previously revealed that hard water can contribute to dry hair. Hard water contains high levels of minerals such as calcium and magnesium, which can build up on the hair and scalp.

This mineral buildup can make it difficult for moisture to penetrate the hair shaft, leading to dryness, brittleness and dullness.

Over time, hard water can also strip the hair of its natural oils, making these problems worse.

Amber claims that this can be solved by applying a hairspray oiland let it sit for a while before taking a shower.

She says, “This will protect your hair from damage from hard water and shampoo.”

Amber also recommends using a shower head with a filter.

Unconventional Hair Growth Tips

The video received 240 comments as people wanted to share their opinions en masse.

One of them wrote: “Thanks for the tip.”

Another added: “Maybe I should try a shower filter.”

A third praised the hack, saying: “Maybe I should try a shower filter.”

Another possible cause of dry hair is the number of times you shampoo.

When it comes to washing your hair, the usual routine consists of one round of shampoo followed by conditioner.

According to Kash Bishop, a senior stylist at Neville Haar and Beauty, double shampooing can be beneficial for certain individuals.

Kash says: “Double washing can be beneficial for those with very oily hair or a lot of product buildup.

“The first shampoo helps remove dirt, oil and styling products from the hair and scalp.

“The second shampoo can then target specific hair needs, such as adding volume, controlling frizz or providing extra nourishment.

“For people with dry or damaged hair, double shampooing can strip essential oils from the hair, leading to further dryness and damage.

“That’s why it’s important to consider your hair type and its specific needs before deciding whether double shampooing is right for you.”

The 4 Phases of the Hair Growth Cycle

Hair experts at Philip Kingsley shared the four stages of the hair growth cycle: Anagen, Catagen, Telogen and Exogen

Anagen phase:Also called the ‘growth phase’ or ‘active phase’, is the phase in which the cells in the hair root divide most rapidly, causing more new hair to be formed.

During the Anagen Phase, hair grows about half an inch per month [about six inches a year]and faster in summer than in winter.

This phase of the hair growth cycle lasts an average of three to five years.

Catagen phase:After the anagen phase, your hair cycle enters a short transition phase called the catagen phase. This phase marks the end of active hair growth and separates individual hairs from the blood supply and the cells that produce new hair.

About three percent of all hairs are in this stage at any one time and it lasts about 10 days.

Telogen phase:The third phase of your natural hair growth cycle is the telogen phase, a resting period during which hairs remain in their follicles but are not actively growing.

It is estimated that 10-15 percent of your hair is in the telogen phase at any given time.

The telogen phase lasts about three months or 100 days.

Exogenous phase:The final stage of the hair growth cycle, when individual hair strands release from their follicles and fall out.

Now the whole process starts again.
