A man and dog were killed on Monday in Southwest -Florida in what the authorities said, seemed to be a rare deadly attack by a black bear.

Civil servants received a phone call just after 7 hours over an apparent “fatal nature attack” in a rural and wooded non -recorded part of Collier County just north of Everglades City, Fla, said the Sheriff of Collier County.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission said that it can still be in the area with the attack. The committee, which leads the investigation, said it continued to secure a perimeter.

“From an abundance of caution, we urge residents and visitors to stay vigilant and avoid the area,” the committee said.

The cause of death has not been established and the identity and age of the man and the circumstances around the meeting were not immediately released.

Florida is The home base of more than 4,000 black bearsAccording to the committee.

The animals roam forests and marshes from the Panhandle and Ocala National Forest of the State in the state of the State, to the national reserve of the Grote Cipres in the southwestern Florida, which was nearby where the attack took place on Monday, the committee said.

Bear attacks on people are rare. Occasionally, while pruning food in neighborhoods for food, bears will come into contact with residents.

“If bears cannot find food, they will continue,” said the committee.

The last documented case of physical contact between a person and a black bear in Florida was on 15 February in Silver Springs, Fla. According to the committee. Additional details about that meeting were not immediately available. Since 2006, the Commission has reported 42 of such meetings.

The committee said it is illegal to deliberately place food or waste outside that can attract bears and lead to conflicts. It noted that everything that attracts dogs, cats or racals will also attract bears.

Bears can walk up to 35 miles per hour and climb 100 feet up in a tree in 30 seconds. The committee has recommended that people will not run or climb a tree when they encounter a bear.

If someone meets the animal up close, The committee suggested that the person with the bear speaks with a calm, assertive voice, slowly back to a secure area and Make sure you leave the bear a clear escape route. ‘

And if a bear attacks, the committee has recommended ‘aggressive back’.

“People have successfully dropped black bear attacks with stones, sticks or even their bare hands!” It added.
