Beloved celebrity chef Maggie Beer, 79, taken to hospital after horrific accident
Chef Maggie Beer has been taken to hospital by her husband Colin after suffering broken bones and other injuries in a fall at her Barossa Valley home.
The 79-year-old Great Australian Bake Off star is now recovering from her injury, with a family member sharing a message with her Instagram followers on Sunday evening.
The beloved assured fans that the MasterChef regular is in the best possible medical hands and is likely to make a full recovery.
“Hello friends, this is Maggie’s family,” the lengthy post began, featuring a smiling photo of the cookbook author.
‘I would like to inform you that after a fall at her home she unfortunately suffered some minor broken bones and other injuries.
‘Thankfully Col, her husband, was there and she is now in the excellent hands of her doctors who are confident that she will make a full recovery. It may just take some time.
‘Maggie hates to disappoint people more than anything, but she has several events and public appearances coming up that she may have to miss.
“She has asked us to apologize on her behalf to everyone involved. She has also asked for patience as she recovers.”

Maggie is a celebrity chef, author and restaurateur who was awarded the Order of Australia in 2012 for her contributions to the food and tourism industries.
She was best known as one of the judges on The Great Australian Bake Off, alongside Matt Moran, until she left in 2022.
Maggie also hosted the ABC cooking show The Cook and The Chef with Simon Bryant for a time and made guest appearances on MasterChef Australia.
The beloved chef recently began filming a new ABC series in Western Australia, focusing on the dining experiences in care homes.
