Beloved HGTV -Gastheer Loren Ruch Death at 55: Emmy Award -winner leaves after the battle with cancer

HGTV content Chief Loren Ruch reportedly died at the age of 55 after a fight with cancer.

According to The Hollywood ReporterRuch had fought against acute myeloid leukemia, a blood cancer that starts in the bone marrow.

During his time at HGTV, Ruch was an enthusiastic and well-known co-host for HGTV House Party and he was a producer for and HGTV Dream Home and HGTV Green Home, including titles.

In recent years, as head of the content on the network, Ruch has managed the programming of a number of hit shows, such as My Lottery Dream Home, Barbie Dreamhouse Challenge and Celebrity Iou.

The beloved host had been part of the Company since 2008and was mentioned in January 2023 as head of the content.

Before that he also served as a VP of development and programming for HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country.

Ruch was an accomplished producer, even before his time at HGTV, worked as a senior producer of morning news Good Day La and Good Day Live.

He was the recipient of five Emmy Awards for his excellent work.

In an e -mail to Warner Bros. Discovery staff obtained by The Hollywood ReporterThe chairman of the company, Channing Dungey, remembered Ruch for his ‘endless kindness’ and ‘unwavering integrity’.

“During his three decades career, Loren was the rare leader who lifted everyone around him,” wrote Dungey.

“Known for his non -repellent dedication, endless kindness and unwavering integrity, Loren not only built hit shows, but sustainable relationships that served as a mentor, lawyer and real friend for countless colleagues in the television landscape,” the message continued.

‘His impact extended far beyond the screen. Loren was the connective tissue of every room he entered – the glue that bond teams, departments and friendships, ‘read the e -mail.

“He had the rare gift to show people, appreciated and inspired to do their best work.”

Dungey also shared that Ruch’s work was never about the ‘reviews’ or ‘awards’, but instead the ‘people’ with whom he worked.

‘For those of us who are lucky to know Loren and love, the things we remember, and cherishing go much further than his professional performance … Loren’s light touched everyone who is lucky to know him. The HGTV -Gastheer also served as a board member for Live Out Loud, a non -profit organization that focuses on serving lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, transgender and questions (LGBTQ+) young people.

He is survived by his husband, David Salas, as well as his mother, father and brother.
